 IT GETS WORSE:

The problem began when Mr Murone's order for pre-mix concrete for the foundation for the retaining walls arrived BEFORE HE HAD FINISHED DIGGING OUT THE TRENCHES.

I watched him and assistant Mem frantically digging trenches and throwing concrete in. It was not measured at any time to check depth.

But the main problem was:

They dug the trenches and poured the concrete IN THE WRONG PLACE.

But there's more to come:   Because they were in such a hurry, the concrete was slopped all over the place. I suggested they remove the excess while the concrete was still soft but Mr Murone decided to do it later.

RESULT:

BIG, HARD LUMPS OF CONCRETE SCATTERED AROUND THE GARDEN

I insisted that they dig the trenches again in the correct places.

In some instances this was as simple as making sure the trench on one side of the gate was the same distance from the gate as on the other side.    (As this photograph shows when it was finally done right.)

SO I MARKED THE  FENCE ABOVE WHERE THE TRENCH SHOULD BE DUG.

The marks are still there as in the photograph here.

Mr Murone and Mem dug the trenches again but even with these marks still didn't get them in the right place.

Nevertheless, they poured concrete into them.

CREATING EVEN MORE BIG, HARD LUMPS OF CONCRETE IN THE WRONG PLACE.

In the end, in three places around our garden,

I DUG THE TRENCHES MYSELF

But STAY TUNED, IT GETS WORSE:
